How to Apply for Sindh’s Free Electric Pink Scooty Scheme for Women

Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced the launch of the Free Electric Pink Scooty Scheme, designed to help women and encourage the use of eco-friendly transport in the province.

Sharjeel Memon said the initiative was designed to reduce environmental pollution and would be available to women aged between 20 and 45 years.

“Eligible women will be given 60 days to obtain a valid driving license to qualify for the scheme,” said the minister while talking to the reporters in Karachi on Wednesday.

He said that 20 percent of the quota has been set aside for women from minority communities. Memon shared that they had received 10,000 applications, with 150 applicants already holding driving licenses while the rest applied for learner’s licenses.

The minister explained that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has joined hands with the Sindh government for this project. KMC will train women to ride scooters, help them get licences, and also cover licence fees. He clarified that the scooters provided under this scheme cannot be transferred or sold.

Sharjeel Memon also spoke about other development projects, mentioning that two Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) projects are in progress in Sindh. He said work on the Red Line project is moving ahead despite challenges, and by September, more electric and double-decker buses will be launched in the province.
