Naqvi reviews security situation of railways, anti-encroachment steps

ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the Pakistan Railways Headquarters and attended a special meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi.

The meeting reviewed the overall security situation of Pakistan Railways, with particular focus on railway tracks and trains nationwide, especially in Balochistan. Officials briefed both ministers on the steps being taken to ensure foolproof security.

It was also decided to launch a joint crackdown against encroachments on railway land. The National Constabulary and Railways Police will carry out the anti-encroachment drive with full support from the Frontier Constabulary (FC).

Additionally, the meeting approved the commencement of a new train service between Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Minister Naqvi stressed that all possible measures would be taken to guarantee foolproof security for railway tracks and trains, pledging full support to the Railways Police. “The safety of passengers is our top priority,” he said.

The Interior Minister also praised Hanif Abbasi for taking unique initiatives to improve the performance of Pakistan Railways.

In turn, Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi thanked Naqvi for extending the cooperation of the Federal Reserve Police in anti-encroachment efforts.
