KARACHI: Karachi is facing a severe water crisis as repeated power outages and cable faults caused by K-Electric have crippled pumping operations, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC) confirmed on Thursday.
According to a KW\&SC spokesperson, major pumping stations at Dhabeji, Pipri, and Hub have been shut down due to persistent electricity failures. Several distribution points have also lost power, cutting off supply from key feeders.
As a result, the city is experiencing a shortfall of nearly 200 million gallons of water. Areas hit hardest include Port Qasim, Bin Qasim Town, Landhi, Korangi, Shah Faisal Town, Liaquatabad, Chanesar Town, PNS Mehran, PAF Base Faisal, Karsaz, Nazimabad, and New Karachi.
KW\&SC officials said the corporation is actively coordinating with K-Electric to restore power at the affected stations and prevent the crisis from worsening. They added that efforts are underway to stabilize supply and minimize the impact on residents already struggling with limited access to water.
