SWABI: At least 42 people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents and a devastating cloudburst in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Swabi district.
According to officials, the village of Dalori Bala was the worst hit, where a cloudburst a few days ago destroyed 17 houses. As a result, 40 people were trapped under the debris.
Deputy Commissioner Swabi, Nasrullah, confirmed that the rescue operation in the affected area has now been completed. “A total of 40 people were retrieved from the rubble, including 37 bodies and three injured survivors,” he said.
According to the deputy commissioner, “four people were killed due to cloudburst in Sarkoi Payan. “Meanwhile, a young man was swept away by flash floods at Colonel Sher Nadi, and his body was recovered by rescue teams yesterday.”
The Deputy Commissioner said that ‘rains and cloudburst have been reported in Swabi district, with 42 deaths, 17 houses in Dalori Bala, a house in Sarkoi, a house was completely destroyed while a total of 27 houses were damaged. The rehabilitation work is underway in the affected area of Dalori Bala.
