ISLAMABAD: In Pakistan, passports are issued by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). A passport is a mandatory document for international travel, and it is issued after paying a fixed service fee.

Before applying, it is important to know the updated passport fee structure, as charges may change from time to time. Pakistan Observer’s guide provides the latest details on passport fees in 2025, including online application charges and breakdowns based on type and validity.

According to the revised rates, passport fees now depend on the number of pages, processing time, and validity period. For a 5-year passport, a 36-page passport costs Rs. 5,500 for normal processing and Rs. 8,500 for urgent service. A 72-page passport costs Rs. 9,200 normally and Rs. 14,500 urgently, while a 100-page passport costs Rs. 10,000 for standard and Rs. 19,000 for urgent processing.

For 10-year passports, the fees are higher. A 36-page passport costs Rs. 7,700 for normal and Rs. 12,200 for urgent service. A 72-page passport costs Rs. 13,400 normally and Rs. 21,200 urgently. Meanwhile, a 100-page passport is priced at Rs. 14,500 for normal and Rs. 28,000 for urgent service. All these charges include taxes and service costs, giving applicants a clear picture of what they need to pay.

When applying, applicants must provide certain documents. These include a valid CNIC or smart card, previous passport (if issued), photographs, and other supporting papers depending on the case, such as for minors or government employees. Having the right documents ensures a smooth process and avoids unnecessary delays.
