KARACHI: A local court on Monday handed over to police the custody of a woman accused of killing her two minor children in the city’s Defence area.

During the hearing at the Judicial Magistrate South’s court, police produced the suspect and sought her physical remand for investigation.

According to the investigating officer, the woman allegedly killed her eight-year-old son and four-year-old daughter on August 15. The officer informed the court that the motive behind the murders has yet to be ascertained, while the murder weapon and other items are to be sent for DNA testing.

The court approved the police’s request and handed over the woman to the police till August 19 and sought progress report from the investigating officer at the next hearing.

It may be recalled that the former husband had filed a case against the accused in Durkhashan police station.
