ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Friday announced new petrol and diesel prices for the next two weeks.
According to the Finance Ministry, the petrol price will stay the same at Rs264.61 per litre, while the price of high-speed diesel has been cut by Rs12.84 to Rs272.99 per litre.

The price of kerosene oil has been reduced by Rs7.19 to Rs178.27 per litre, and light diesel has been lowered by Rs8.20 to Rs162.37 per litre.
However, earlier this week, the government increased the petroleum levy, which reduced the full relief people could get from these price cuts. Sources say the levy on both petrol and diesel has gone up by Rs2.50 per litre — taking diesel’s levy from Rs74.51 to Rs77.01 and petrol’s from Rs75.52 to Rs78.02.
The freight margin on diesel has also increased by Rs 0.20 per litre, now standing at Rs 6.24. A climate support levy of Rs2.50 per litre has been added to both petrol and diesel.
The dealers’ margin for both fuels remains at Rs8.64 per litre, while distributors will get Rs7.87 per litre. The sales tax on petrol and diesel stays at zero.
