Rawalpindi: Colonel General Karim Valiyev, Chief of the General Staff of Azerbaijan, visited the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi where he met with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), both military leaders held a detailed discussion on bilateral defence cooperation, matters of mutual interest, and the prevailing regional and global security environment.
General Asim Munir congratulated Colonel General Valiyev on the successful conclusion of the recent peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Colonel General Karim Valiyev praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Army and lauded its successful efforts in the fight against terrorism. In recognition of General Munir’s contributions to military cooperation, he presented him with the “Patriotic War Medal” on behalf of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
Upon his arrival at GHQ, the Azerbaijani Chief was presented with a guard of honour and laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada (Monument of Martyrs) to pay tribute to Pakistan’s fallen heroes.
The visiting delegation also extended warm wishes to Pakistan on the occasion of its Independence Day and upcoming victory celebrations.
