Damascus: On July 16, Israeli forces launched airstrikes near the Syrian Ministry of Defense headquarters and the Presidential Palace in Damascus. The terrifying scenes unfolded during live broadcasts, with cameras capturing the chaos in real time.

Video footage aired by international media showed explosions rocking the city as journalists ducked for cover mid-report. The violent tremors shook the cameras, vividly portraying the intensity of the strikes.

According to Israeli authorities, the airstrikes were part of the “Protection of Druze” policy. Israeli Defense Minister and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused the Syrian military of excessive use of force against the Druze community in southern Syria. He warned that Israeli strikes would continue until the Syrian forces halted their operations.

Live Explosions Force Reporters to Take Cover:

During live international coverage, a powerful explosion forced reporters to retreat for safety and interrupt their broadcast. Video clips showed smoke and destruction near key buildings, clearly indicating the force of the strike on the Ministry of Defense.

In another broadcast, a female news anchor had to abruptly stop her live transmission to protect herself as the horrific scenes of destruction were captured on camera.

Civilian Casualties and Global Response:

According to Syrian state media, the airstrikes in Damascus killed at least one civilian and injured 18 others. Meanwhile, ongoing clashes between Druze tribes and Syrian forces in Sweida and nearby areas have resulted in over 250 reported deaths.

In response to the escalating violence, U.S. Representative Tom Bark urged all parties to de-escalate tensions and return to the negotiation table immediately.

Rising Regional Tensions:

Experts warn that Israel’s military involvement in Syria’s internal conflict may further destabilize the region. Syria has condemned the strikes as a violation of its sovereignty and called on the United Nations to take immediate notice and action.
