Minister of State for Overseas Pakistanis Aun Chaudhry represented Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the 30th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, held in Potočari, Bosnia and Herzegovina, on July 11. The United Nations observes this date as the “International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the 1995 Genocide in Srebrenica.”

At the solemn ceremony, Aun Chaudhry conveyed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s good wishes and prayers to the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He shared the message with top Bosnian leaders, including Member of the Presidency Dr. Denis Bećirović, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Defence Minister Zukan Helez, and Foreign Minister Elmedin Konaković.

The minister also handed over a letter from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to the Bosnian leadership. Officials read the letter during the event, reaffirming Pakistan’s solidarity and acknowledgment of the tragic events of 1995.

In his remarks and interactions, Aun Chaudhry emphasized Pakistan’s unwavering diplomatic, political, and moral support for Bosnia and Herzegovina during the 1992–95 war.

Aun Chaudhry recalled that Pakistan had deployed 3,000 troops in Tuzla under the UN Peacekeeping mission, making them among the earliest responders to the survivors of Srebrenica.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s principled stance in upholding international law and human rights. He strongly opposed the politics of denial and impunity in global conflicts, whether in Srebrenica, Palestine, or Jammu & Kashmir.

Aun Chaudhry reaffirmed that Pakistan remains committed to upholding peace, dignity, freedom, and justice worldwide. He emphasized the country’s continued support for causes grounded in mutual respect and fairness.
