A disturbing surge in killings on robbery resistance has gripped Karachi once as at least 46 citizens have been shot dead by dacoits in 2025 so far.

Authorities have reported that six people were killed in just the past week while trying to resist robberies, showing a rise in violent crime across the city.

The most recent incidents happened on Monday, when two young men were reportedly shot dead in separate robbery attempts. One of the victims, Faisal Mahmood, was killed during a motorbike snatching in the Korangi area. Police said he was shot in the eye while trying to resist the robbers. Faisal was the son of a mosque muezzin. Witnesses said he lay in pain as the robbers escaped with his bike.

Police also mentioned that operations are ongoing to catch the culprits, as motorbike-snatching gangs seem to be active again.

In another similar case on Friday, a man named Shah Fahd was shot during a robbery in Landhi. He was taken to a hospital but did not survive. Police said the shooting happened in the Landhi No.4 area, where there was a power outage at the time of the incident.
