Minerals Investment Forum set to start in Pakistan tomorrow

A two-day Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum is all set to kick off tomorrow (Tuesday) in Islamabad.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir will attend the Investment Forum and also speak on the occasion.

The Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum is set to welcome key international guests, including federal ministers, top officials, business leaders, and well-known media personalities.

A high-level delegation from the United States, led by Eric Meyer, will attend the forum. Foreign investors are already arriving in Islamabad, including Catherine Marsh from the Asian Development Bank and a team from China’s Xi’an Geological Survey Center.

The forum will feature important discussions on investment in major mineral projects like Reko Diq, along with government policies related to the sector.

Reko Diq is one of the world’s biggest untapped copper and gold reserves. It is located in the Chagai district of Balochistan, which borders Afghanistan and Iran. This district is known for its dry, desert-like landscape, scattered mountains, and low population. Most of the people living there are Baloch, along with a few other ethnic groups.

Chagai faces many difficulties, such as a lack of development, poor infrastructure, and limited access to basic necessities like education, healthcare, and clean water.
