PM Shehbaz Sharif reaffirms pledge to completely eradicate polio

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated the government’s dedication to completely eradicating polio from the country.

Presiding over a meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday, he commended the timely detection of polio cases and the declining trend in new infections, recognizing the efforts of all provincial authorities.

Shehbaz Sharif stressed that eliminating polio entirely would require strong collaboration between the federal and provincial governments.

He also acknowledged the crucial support of security forces in ensuring the success of the polio vaccination campaign.

The prime minister instructed authorities to digitize all polio-related data and enforce strict monitoring mechanisms.

During the meeting, officials reported that 42.5 million children received polio drops during the February vaccination drive.

It was also revealed that three polio campaigns are planned for the first half of the year, with the second and third phases set to launch in April and May.
