On Monday, March 3, 2025, all banks, including commercial banks, the State Bank of Pakistan, and other financial institutions, will be closed for public services. This closure is for the purpose of Zakat deduction.
The Administrator General Zakat has set the Zakat threshold (Nisab) for the year 1445-46 A.H. at Rs. 179,689 (One Hundred Seventy-Nine Thousand Six Hundred Eighty-Nine Rupees).
The central bank, following instructions from the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, announced that all banks, Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), and Microfinance Banks (MFBs) will remain closed to the public on this date. However, bank staff will still work on that day, as it will be considered a normal working day, but without public dealing.
Zakat will be deducted from accounts with a balance of Rs. 179,689 or more on the first day of Ramadan (1446 A.H.). The exact date of Zakat deduction has already been set. No Zakat will be deducted from accounts that have less than the specified amount.
