KURRAM: Unknown attackers opened fire on a relief goods convoy in Kurram, ARY News reported on Monday, quoting local police.

According to details, the convoy, consisting of 100 vehicles, came under attack in the Bagan Ochat area of Kurram.

The policemen swiftly responded with retaliatory action. The police confirmed that no injuries have been reported so far.

The convoy continues its journey toward its destination under strict security.

Earlier, security forces took control of Bagan Bazaar in Kurram to restore order in the region.

During the operation, they vacated several bunkers, four each belonging to the Watezai tribe and the Tori tribe in Irfani Kalay.

In response to the attacks on convoys and unrest, authorities have launched a search operation to apprehend the culprits.

On January 18, Deputy Commissioner Kurram Javedullah Mehsud announced that security forces would launch a major operation in four locations of the district to eliminate the terrorists.

He said authorities are relocating the displaced persons to Tal and Hangu for their safety.

Days after the warring tribes reached a peace agreement, violence erupted again in the restive region, with the Kurram DC sustaining injuries in a firing incident.
