Karachi: The 9th edition of the multinational maritime exercise AMAN 2025, organized by the Pakistan Navy, is currently underway and will continue until February 11.
On the third day of the exercise, a special Aman Dialogue was held under the theme “Safe Seas, Prosperous Future.” The event brought together naval chiefs and officials from participating countries to discuss key maritime security issues.
Discussions during the Aman Dialogue focused on shared maritime threats, the impact of climate change on maritime security, and other critical topics.
Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, while addressing the participants, said, “I warmly welcome all participants to the Aman Dialogue. The objective of this dialogue is to raise awareness about maritime security threats and promote the concept of the Blue Economy.”
It is worth noting that AMAN 2025 began on February 7 and will conclude on February 11. The opening ceremony featured a formal commencement, with flags of participating nations hoisted simultaneously. A message from the Chief of Naval Staff was also read during the event.
The Chief of Naval Staff emphasized that the AMAN exercises play a crucial role in establishing a secure and stable maritime environment in the region. He further stated that the Pakistan Navy has undertaken several initiatives to enhance maritime security in the Arabian Sea.
Meanwhile, Commander Pakistan Fleet, Rear Admiral Abdul Muneeb, remarked that the AMAN exercises invite nations worldwide to collaborate in addressing threats and challenges. He noted that maritime threats, including piracy, have long impacted trade and other vital activities.
He further stated, “For the first time, the Pakistan Navy is introducing the Aman Dialogue as part of the exercise. This initiative will provide global maritime leadership with an excellent opportunity to discuss pressing maritime issues.”
Earlier, a promotional video for the Aman Dialogue was released, titled “Naqara-e-Aman” (The Drumbeat of Peace). The video showcased Pakistan’s diverse cultural and social heritage.
