PM Shehbaz vows sustainable development as PML-N marks one year

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that the PML-N government had steered the country toward development through relentless efforts.

Speaking at a ceremony in Islamabad marking one year of the PML-N government, he highlighted the progress made since the party assumed power following the February 8 elections.

“The country’s economy is now poised for growth after a year of dedicated efforts by the government’s economic team,” he said.

He noted that the financial sector had successfully navigated major challenges and was now on a path of recovery and sustained progress.

“Pakistan’s transformation from crisis to stability within a year is the result of collective effort,” the prime minister remarked.

He emphasized that the government’s successful engagement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) secured a $7 billion program last year, preventing the country from defaulting.

Shehbaz Sharif also commended the salaried class for their role in revenue collection through tax contributions.

He stated that inflation had dropped from 40% to 2.4% in January 2025, leading to a reduction in the policy rate.

Urging the business community to support economic stabilization efforts, he stressed that their participation was vital for the country’s progress.

The prime minister expressed his desire to leave behind a legacy of sustainable development and voiced confidence in the success of the recently launched “Uraan Pakistan” program, which aims to achieve its set targets.

The ceremony was also addressed by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar.
