South Africa’s white-ball head coach Rob Walter has announced a 12-member squad for the upcoming tri-nation ODI series match against New Zealand. The match is set to take place at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on February 10.
Temba Bavuma, South Africa’s all-format captain, will lead the squad, which includes six uncapped players: Matthew Breetzke, Meeka-eel Prince, Gideon Peters, Eathan Bosch, Senuran Muthusamy, and Mihlali Mpongwana.
The squad also features right-arm pacer Gerald Coetzee, who has recovered from a hamstring injury to strengthen the bowling attack.
According to Cricket South Africa (CSA), additional players will be included after the SA20 Eliminator match between Sunrisers Eastern Cape and Joburg Super Kings. The final squad for the tri-nation series will be announced on February 9, following the SA20 final.
Keshav Maharaj and Heinrich Klaasen will miss the first ODI and will travel to Karachi on February 9 for the second ODI against Pakistan on February 12. Meanwhile, key players Marco Jansen, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Kagiso Rabada, Ryan Rickelton, Tristan Stubbs, and Rassie van der Dussen will depart for Pakistan on February 14 for the tournament.
