Pakistan Railways has rolled out a revised ticket refund policy, which will also be applicable to tickets purchased via the “Raabta” app.
According to the official notification, passengers who buy tickets from railway’s Point of Sale (POS) counters can receive a 90% refund if they cancel at least 48 hours before the scheduled departure. Cancellations made between 24 to 48 hours before departure will be eligible for an 80% refund, while those made within 24 hours will receive a 70% refund.
Additionally, passengers can claim a 50% refund if they cancel within two hours after the train’s departure. In cases where the train is delayed by six hours or more, passengers will be entitled to a full refund.
Refunds for POS tickets will only be processed at the counters where they were originally purchased. To claim a refund, passengers must present the original ticket along with a copy of their ID card, after which they will receive a cancellation slip and the refunded amount.
For online ticket purchases, refunds will only be processed through the same digital platform used for payment. The same refund policy applies to online tickets, with no refunds granted after the train’s departure. However, if a cancellation occurs within 90 minutes before departure, passengers will be eligible for a 50% refund.
