President-elect Donald Trump has informed his advisers of his desire to visit China after taking office, according to a Wall Street Journal report citing sources familiar with the matter.
The report states that Trump has shown interest in making the trip within his first 100 days in office. His inauguration is scheduled for Monday, with Chinese Vice President Han Zheng expected to attend, as Beijing signals its readiness to enhance bilateral cooperation.
Discussions between Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, facilitated through their representatives, have included the possibility of an in-person meeting. One option under consideration is Trump inviting Xi to visit the United States, the WSJ reported.
The Chinese embassy in Washington did not provide immediate comment on the matter.
