LAHORE: Dense fog blanketed Lahore and other parts of Punjab on Sunday, drastically reducing visibility and forcing the closure of several motorways.

According to Motorway Police spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmed, key closures include:

  • Motorway M2: Closed from Lahore to Kot Momin.
  • Motorway M3: Blocked from Lahore to Darkhana.
  • Motorway M4: Shut from Pindi Bhattian to Abdul Hakeem.
  • Sialkot Motorway M11: Entry restricted entirely.

The fog also affected visibility on national highways in cities like Gujranwala, Multan, Faisalabad, and Bahawalnagar, creating difficulties for commuters. Motorways were shut down as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety.

Travelers were advised to travel during daylight, use fog lights, maintain safe distances, and avoid speeding. Non-essential travel is discouraged until conditions improve.

In Lahore, the cold wave has intensified, with minimum temperatures dropping to 7°C and a current reading of 8°C. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 18°C.

The Meteorological Department forecasts a 10% chance of rain in Lahore, with humidity levels at 97% and wind speeds recorded at 5 km/h. Commuters are urged to remain cautious during this challenging weather.
