US dollar rate in Pakistan on dec 18 down by 0.05 Paisa to Rs278.22

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani rupee strengthened slightly against the US dollar on Monday, appreciating by 0.05 paisa in interbank trading to close at Rs278.22 compared to the previous closing rate of Rs278.27.

Meanwhile, the Forex Association of Pakistan (FAP) reported that in the open market, the buying and selling rates of the dollar stood at Rs277.75 and Rs279.25, respectively.

According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the exchange rate of the Euro decreased by 29 paisa, closing at Rs291.85 compared to the last day’s rate of Rs292.14.

The Japanese yen gained marginally, appreciating by 0.01 paisa to close at Rs1.81. However, the British Pound witnessed a decline of 56 paisa, settling at Rs352.88 against the prior closing of Rs353.44.

Additionally, slight dips were observed in the exchange rates of the Emirates Dirham and the Saudi Riyal, both declining by 0.02 paisa to close at Rs75.74 and Rs74.02, respectively.

The fluctuations in exchange rates highlight ongoing currency trends amid market activity, with minor appreciations and declines across different foreign currencies.
