To honor the martyrs of the Army Public School (APS) Peshawar tragedy, the Deputy Commissioners of Islamabad, Lahore, and Rawalpindi have declared a holiday on December 16.

As a result, all public and private schools, as well as colleges in these cities, will remain closed. However, universities in Lahore will stay open. The official notification confirms that educational institutions in the districts will observe the holiday on this date.

On December 16, 2014, six terrorists attacked APS Peshawar, claiming the lives of approximately 150 students and teachers. In response to this horrific event, the government introduced the National Action Plan (NAP) to combat terrorism.

In a separate announcement, the Sindh government has declared December 25 and 26 as public holidays. December 25 will be observed as Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s birthday, while December 26 will be a holiday for Christian employees to celebrate Christmas. All government offices will remain closed on these days.

The nation is gearing up to commemorate Quaid-e-Azam Day, celebrating the legacy of Pakistan’s founder. Additionally, the State Bank of Pakistan has announced that banks across the country will remain closed on December 25.
