Rain and snowfall forecasted for northern regions

Rain and snowfall are expected in the northern regions of Pakistan tonight, with the possibility of hailstorms in some areas, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Saturday.

The PMD reported that most parts of the country are experiencing cold and dry weather, while the northern regions and northern Balochistan are extremely cold.

Partly cloudy skies are forecasted, with light to moderate rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms expected in areas such as upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, upper Punjab, the Pothohar region, and Islamabad. Mountainous areas are likely to see snowfall during this time.

Leh recorded the lowest temperature in the country at -10°C, followed by Skardu at -9°C and Qalat at -7°C. Gupis reported -6°C, while Astore, Gilgit, and Kalam recorded -5°C. Other areas like Bagrote, Hunza, and Dir experienced temperatures of -3°C. Quetta recorded -2°C, and Malam Jabba saw temperatures drop to -1°C.

Additionally, the Environmental Protection Agency reported that Islamabad’s Air Quality Index (AQI) was at 164, classified as unhealthy.
