A crucial International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting, scheduled for Wednesday to discuss the hosting of the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan, was postponed yet again. The delay occurred after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) rejected the formula proposed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), according to sources.

The sources revealed that the meeting was postponed due to India’s failure to respond to Pakistan’s proposed solution regarding the matter. The rescheduled meeting will now take place on December 7.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi had arrived in Dubai with high expectations for the meeting, where the future of the Champions Trophy, set for February-March 2025 in Pakistan, was to be discussed. However, the BCCI rejected the PCB’s proposals, leaving the impasse unresolved.

Following this, PCB sources communicated to the ICC that the meeting should only proceed when a final decision is required, and India’s position should first be clarified.

The situation remains at a standstill as the BCCI has refused to send its team to Pakistan, while the PCB remains firm on opposing the hybrid model for the eight-team tournament. In response, a new “partnership formula” is being considered to resolve the deadlock between PCB and BCCI.

The new formula suggests that Pakistan will not play their matches in India during ICC events over the next three years. Dubai is expected to be the neutral venue for both teams under this proposed arrangement.

India is set to host three major ICC events during this period, including the Women’s World Cup 2025, the co-hosting of the T20 World Cup 2026 with Sri Lanka, and the Champions Trophy 2027.

Sources also mentioned that the ICC has advised the BCCI to accept the new formula to avoid legal action from Pakistan and resolve the issue without a formal vote. If both boards agree to the formula, there may be no need for a board meeting, and the ICC will communicate the decision directly with the board members.
