YouTube TV for Android is rolling out a new picture-in-picture (PiP) mini-player, similar to the one previously introduced on the main YouTube app. This new feature is available with version 8.47.0 of the YouTube TV app, as reported by 9to5Google.
PiP Mini-Player features
The PiP mini-player offers several controls, including:
- Play/Pause
- 15-second rewind and forward buttons
- A close button
- Pinch-to-zoom functionality for resizing
The update comes after the main YouTube app faced backlash for a similar PiP mini-player introduced in July. While some users appreciated the feature, others criticized it for glitches and preferred the older design.
In response, YouTube recently reverted to its original mini-player design, placing it stationary at the bottom of the app. This change was widely welcomed, with users expressing relief at the return of familiarity.
