In a shocking revelation, six individuals, including a ten-year-old boy, a woman, and a mechanic, were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly stealing motorcycles in the city.
According to sources, the District West police uncovered a six-member motorcycle theft gang operating in the Gulshan-e-Maymar area.
The investigation into a recent motorcycle theft led to the arrest of a minor, Shahzeb, who was identified through CCTV footage. During questioning, Shahzeb confessed to working with a motorcycle-lifting gang. Following his statements, police conducted raids across the city, apprehending five additional suspects: a woman named Zainab, and men identified as Hammad, Muzammil, Rafiq alias Raees, and Muhammad Anas.
Police seized 14 stolen motorcycles, along with seven chassis, nine engines, and other bike parts from the gang. Shahzeb’s role involved stealing the motorcycles and handing them over to the other suspects, while Hammad, Muzammil, and Rafiq were responsible for hiding the bikes and disassembling them.
The suspects reportedly sold both new and used motorcycles, as well as parts from disassembled bikes, in the Hub area of Balochistan. They sold 70cc bikes for just Rs12,000 after acquiring them for Rs4,000 to Rs5,000, while 110cc, 125cc, and 150cc bikes were sold for Rs20,000 to Rs25,000 after purchasing them for Rs12,000 to Rs15,000.
The suspects are set to be transferred to the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) for further investigation.
