  • She even recommended replacements to the directors.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu has cemented her status as an action star, taking on physically demanding roles in her Telugu film Yashoda and now the Amazon Prime Video series Citadel: Honey Bunny. The Raj & DK-directed series showcases Samantha as a spy, performing intense fight sequences.

However, in a recent interview with Galatta India, the actress revealed the extraordinary challenges she faced while filming the show while battling myositis, an autoimmune disorder that affected her health and required hospitalization.

“I didn’t think that a few months later, I would request Raj & DK to choose another heroine because it was not possible,” Samantha shared, recalling the difficulty of committing to the project. “I believe I couldn’t do it because of the circumstances I was in.”

The actor even recommended replacements to the directors, suggesting names like Kiara Advani and Kriti Sanon. “I actually sent them Kiara’s pictures and Kriti’s pictures… I said, ‘Oh my God, she is so hot. Just look at her. She will be amazing doing action. Please, I can’t do it,’” Samantha admitted. Despite her pleas, Raj & DK refused to recast her, with Samantha adding, “They said, ‘We know them. You don’t have to introduce us to them.’”

In the end, Samantha completed Citadel: Honey Bunny, starring alongside Varun Dhawan, Kay Kay Menon, and Saqib Saleem. The series, a prequel to the Russo Brothers’ Citadel, premiered last month and quickly became Amazon Prime Video’s number one show globally. Samantha’s performance earned acclaim from critics and fans alike.
