Over 1,000 passengers stuck in Quetta amid railway staff protest

Quetta Railway Station descended into chaos as over 1,000 passengers were left stranded due to a protest by railway employees.

Protesters blocked train tracks, causing delays of up to four hours for major services, including the Chaman Passenger, Jaffar Express, and Bolan Mail. The demonstration was sparked by the alleged demolition of railway employees’ housing boundaries on Zarghoon Road as part of a road expansion project.

Frustrated passengers voiced their concerns, with one remarking, “Even trains aren’t reliable now.”

Railway unions accused the project officials of unlawful actions and demanded judicial intervention.

Following negotiations, the protest was suspended for two days, allowing train services to resume.
