A tragic incident occurred when a patient died in an ambulance after being denied passage at the Jhelum Bridge.
According to details, the patient was en route to the DHQ Hospital in Jhelum for emergency care. Video footage shared online shows the ambulance being stopped at the bridge, with authorities refusing to grant access despite repeated pleas. As a result, the patient’s family had to carry the body on foot after the ambulance was turned away multiple times.
This incident coincided with the closure of the Lahore-Islamabad GT Road in several areas due to preparations for a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest in Islamabad on November 24. The GT Road remains blocked in both directions from Muridke to Jhelum and at the Chenab River Bridge in Gujrat, with containers placed at key points.
The protest call was issued by PTI founder Imran Khan, prompting the Punjab government to impose Section 144 across the province. The restrictions, effective from November 23 to November 25, aim to manage security and public order during the protest.
Additionally, roads leading to Islamabad and Rawalpindi have been blocked, with hostels, guesthouses, and hotels vacated. Vehicles have been barred from entry, and checkpoints have been set up at 33 locations in the twin cities, with containers installed to restrict movement.
