Unidentified armed men attacked a police check post in Bannu’s Atmanzai area, abducting seven police officers, according to sources within the police.
Reports indicate that a group of 30 to 40 attackers stormed the check post, seizing weapons and other police equipment during the assault. Four police officers escaped from abduction as they were not present at the scene when the incident occurred.
The incident took place after maghrib prayer when a group of armed men took the policemen hostage at a checkpost, DPO Ziauddin said, adding that the cops were shifted to an undisclosed location along with their weapons.
The abducted policemen are Saleem, Aqal Rehman, Mewah Jan, Roshan, Abdul Malik, Neematullah and Shad Muhammad.
There has been an increase in incidents of abduction of police personnel and attacks on law enforcement agencies in the northwestern region of the country.
