Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra to retain M13 OLED display panel

Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series, launched in early 2024, impressed users with its M13 OLED panels, featuring advancements in brightness and efficiency. However, the upcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra may not keep pace with some rivals in display technology.

Reports from Korea’s ET News reveal that Samsung will continue with the M13 OLED panel for the Galaxy S25 lineup, including the Ultra model, rather than switching to the newer M14 OLED panel found in Google’s Pixel 9 Pro and Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro.

The M14 panel offers 20-30% greater efficiency, improved brightness (up to 3,000 nits), and a longer lifespan, compared to the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s 2,600-nit peak brightness.

However, according to Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, both Samsung and Apple are moving to a two-year update cycle for OLED technology due to high performance in current panels and market saturation.

Despite missing out on the M14 panel, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will feature Corning’s new Gorilla Armor cover glass, which reduces reflections by 75%, provides excellent scratch resistance, and boosts durability.

This exclusive glass gives Samsung an edge in durability, ensuring a premium display experience even without the latest OLED upgrade.
