In another case of street crime in Karachi, a man was shot and killed by robbers during a mugging in the Ahsanabad area near the Site Superhighway.

The victim was on his way home after selling his wife’s jewelry to pay for his daughter’s medical treatment when he was confronted by the robbers. He was shot three times by the assailants, who then fled the scene after committing the crime.

In a separate incident, a man named Umair lost his life in a shooting after his car was attacked near Mubarak Mosque in the Defence area of Karachi.

These incidents occurred just days after Karachi Police Chief Javed Alam Odho reported that street crime in the city had decreased by 50% in the first quarter of 2024.

Despite the claimed reduction, there were 15,000 mobile phone thefts reported in the first nine months of the year, along with 35,000 cases of motorcycle theft. Additionally, around 1,200 vehicles were either stolen or snatched from residents during the same period.
