The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported a maximum temperature of 38°C in Karachi today (Wednesday) and warned that the warm spell is expected to last until Sunday.
The city has been enduring intense heat, with forecasts indicating temperatures could rise between 37°C and 39°C over the next few days.
The Met Office noted that hot and dry winds from the north and northwest may blow through the city during the day.
However, weather experts anticipate a temperature drop by the end of the week, with sea breezes expected to return between October 27 and October 28.
In addition to Karachi, a shallow westerly wave is affecting the western and upper regions of the country, according to PMD’s daily weather update.
Most areas are expected to experience dry weather today, which will continue into Thursday. Isolated places in the upper regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir, and the Pothohar region may see cloudy conditions with rain and thunderstorms.
Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz mentioned that the likelihood of rain in October and November is low. He forecasted the arrival of winter, stating that there is no expectation for unusually cold weather across the country.
He also noted that Islamabad and northern areas have started to experience cooler nighttime temperatures, signaling the beginning of the pre-winter season.
