ISLAMABAD: Barrister Gohar Ali has refuted claims that the jailed PTI Founder criticized the party’s leadership on Tuesday.
Speaking to the media, the PTI Chairman affirmed, “The PTI remains united, with no signs of any forward block within its ranks.”
He explained that the Speaker of the National Assembly had requested names from PTI for the Special Parliamentary Committee tasked with selecting the next Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP). “We provided the names to ensure our participation in the process,” he clarified.
Later that night, the party’s political committee resolved not to partake in the committee, a decision made in line with the founder’s directives.
Barrister Gohar also noted that the party is entitled to three seats in the committee, according to the Supreme Court’s ruling on special seats.
He added, “We don’t make distinctions between judges; the senior-most judge should assume the role of Chief Justice.”
