Constitutional amendments: Senate and National Assembly sessions delayed for third time

The ongoing talks around the 26th constitutional amendment have caused repeated delays in Senate and National Assembly sessions.

The Senate session was rescheduled for the third time, now set for 6:30 PM instead of the original 3:00 PM, while the National Assembly will meet at 7:00 PM.

Initially, the Senate was to reconvene at 11:00 AM, but the timing was changed multiple times throughout the day due to unresolved negotiations.

Senator Irfan Siddiqui from PML-N said that the draft of the amendment is ready, but it still needs federal cabinet approval before being presented in the Senate.

He emphasized the importance of reaching a broad agreement, a tradition since the 13th amendment, where all parties have typically reached a consensus on such matters.
