LAHORE: There are discussions about appointing wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan as captain for the upcoming white-ball series against Australia.
The national team announcement is expected next week, and fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain may make a return to the squad.
Hasnain, who last played an ODI in 2023, has delivered strong performances in the Champions Cup and President’s Cup. The series, set to take place from November 4 to 18, 2024, will include three ODIs and three T20 matches.
Sources suggest that Rizwan is a strong candidate to lead the Pakistani team against the world champions, with the final decision to be made in consultation with the chairman and selectors.
Additionally, all-rounder Aamer Jamal and young wicketkeeper-batter Haseebullah are also under consideration for the final squad. This series presents an important opportunity for the team as they face a formidable opponent.
