KARACHI: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has announced that the JUI-F and PPP have agreed on the draft of the proposed constitutional amendment.

The Maulana and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari made this announcement while addressing a joint press conference at the Bilawal House, here on Tuesday.

The JUI chief said that he would meet PML-N President Nawaz Sharif and leaderships of the other political parties tomorrow, adding that they wanted to bring the constitutional amendment with the consensus of all political parties.

He maintained that the JUI-F and PPP have agreed on the draft of the proposed constitutional amendment. He thanked Bilawal Bhutto for especially inviting him and discussed the issue in the interest of Pakistan and its people.

Speaking on the occasion, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said whenever any major legislation is made in the country, the PPP and JUI-F have always played a leading role.

Bilawal said, “Today, the PPP and JUI-F have agreed on the draft and tomorrow, the PML-N will also joint them.”
The PPP chairman said that the Maulana wished that not only the government alliance but also the whole opposition including the PTI must be on board regarding the proposed constitutional amendment.
He maintained that their focus was not limited to a particular personality or time but they wanted to make legistation in the interest of the people of Pakistan.
He further said that the PML-N was active regarding the amendment in its own way while the PPP was working in the connection in its manner.

Fazl said that they had rejected the first draft presented by the government, later the JUI-F and the People’s Party jointly found the place where there was a slight difference. “Today, the difference has also been settled down. We want the constitution not to become a toy for anyone.”
