ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar has said the PTI Founder has had a medical check-up by two doctors of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Adiala Jail at 4pm today (Tuesday).
He said that an ENT doctor and a medical specialist examined the PTI founder, adding that the health of the founder is good and he had physical exercise for one hour.
The barrister said that they would receive the PTI founder’s medical report soon as the government had assured the PTI of it.
Earlier on Monday, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) called off its protest on D Chawk in Islamabad on Oct 15 (today) as the federal government had assured the PTI of its founder medical check-up at Adiala Jail.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar made this announcement and said that Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi contacted him and assured him of allowing the doctors to examine the PTI founder on Tuesday morning.
On the assurance of the interior minister, they had decided to withdraw the protest call, he said.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi assured Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Barrister Gohar that a meeting with Imran Khan in Adiala Jail may be arranged on Monday, according to sources.
However, a spokesperson for the ministry clarified that Naqvi has only assured that Khan’s request will be “considered.”
Sources suggest the meeting could potentially take place in the jail later on Monday. Naqvi and Gohar reportedly spoke over the phone, during which Gohar requested that a meeting with Imran Khan be arranged and that Khan’s personal physician be granted access to him in jail.
The Interior Ministry spokesperson confirmed the call occurred but emphasized that Naqvi only assured the request would be reviewed. The spokesperson also noted that granting meetings only to Imran Khan would constitute preferential treatment.
Imran Khan is currently incarcerated in Adiala Jail alongside his wife, Bushra Bibi. Jail authorities have imposed a ban on all inmate meetings until October 18 due to security concerns related to the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit in Islamabad.
