ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has telephoned Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and discussed allover political situation of the country.
Bilawal apprised Nawaz of the progress regarding the constitutional amendment with the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and the both leaders also discussed about consensus among other political parties.
Earlier, Pakistan Peoples Party senior leader Senator Sherry Rehman said that the passage of the 26th Constitutional Amendment could be adopted even after October 25.
She said this while talking to media persons after the PPP’s delegation meeting with Jamiat Ulema -e-Islam -Fazl Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, here on Oct 10.
When Ms. Rehman asked about the proposed amendment whether the constitutional amendment could be passed even after October 25, she replied, “Why can’t it be adopted after the 25th of October?”
About the meeting of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari with PML-N Nawaz Sharif, she said that Bilawal told him about the Charter of Democracy (CoD) mission of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif about the formation of Constitutional Court.
The PPP leader avoided answering to a question whether Nawaz Sharif has accepted the suggestion of Maulana Fazlur Rehman about exclusion of military court from the constitutional amendment.
She observed, “Frequent meetings in politics have to be held to create consensus, then the consensus is developed.”
