Schools and colleges in Rawalpindi and Islamabad will observe three consecutive holidays from October 4 to October 6. The city administrations of both cities declared Friday, October 4, as a holiday for all educational institutions due to a protest organized by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) against proposed constitutional amendments.
To prevent protesters from gathering at D-chowk, authorities have blocked several roads and intersections, leading to significant traffic congestion across the cities. Roads closed using containers include:
- Red Zone, Islamabad (completely sealed)
- Faizabad
- Sector I-8
- IJ Principal Road
- Margalla Road
- Murree Road
- Islamabad Expressway
- Sangjani
- Sector G-11 Chowk
- Golra Mor
- 26 Number Chowki
In response, private school associations have also decided to close educational institutions today.
With Friday’s official holiday followed by the regular weekend break on Saturday and Sunday, schools will reopen on Monday, October 7, after three consecutive days off.
