PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif postpones London trip

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Supremo Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has postponed his visit to London in view of the constitutional amendment.

Sources said, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was scheduled to go to London this week, but now the PML-N leader will visit London and USA only after the constitutional amendment issue is resolved.

Sources said that the constitutional amendment is likely to be tabled this week or early in the second week of October and the decision of the Supreme Court is being awaited in this regard.

It should be noted that the government had decided to introduce constitutional amendments last month, but due to not getting the required majority, it was decided to postpone the approval of the bills for a few days.

Earlier, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is reportedly “divided” on whether to engage in talks with opposition parties in the National Assembly, sources said.

It has come to light that some PML-N leaders are displeased with recent statements made by federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal and Khawaja Asif. These leaders believe that setting conditions for talks could lead to further “complications.”

The consensus within the party is that discussions should proceed without preconditions, as per sources familiar with the PML-N’s internal discussions.
