Sindh government begins action against illegal gas cylinder shops

Following a devastating cylinder explosion in Hyderabad that resulted in 27 fatalities, the Sindh government has begun a crackdown on unauthorized gas cylinder shops throughout the province.

The Sindh Home Department issued a directive to all district administrations, calling for immediate action against those operating gas cylinder businesses illegally.

The department stressed that gas cylinder outlets should not be located in densely populated or residential areas, and must instead be relocated to less crowded zones.

In a letter to deputy commissioners, the Home Department ordered the removal of illegal LNG and LPG shops from city areas and directed the seizure of substandard cylinders.

The government also required these shops to adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) established by federal authorities to ensure public safety.
