ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to pursue legal action against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders for remarks made during their rally in Sangjani on September 8, 2024.

In response to the statements made at the event, the government plans to file a sedition case under Section 196 of the Penal Code.

Section 196 is a non-bailable offense, allowing police to make arrests without a warrant.

The Ministry of Law and the Federal Prosecutor General have confirmed this decision, and formal approval from the Federal Cabinet is being sought.

This move is part of the government’s ongoing crackdown on opposition leaders, amid escalating political tensions.
