ISLAMABAD: Sheikh Waqas Akram has been appointed as PTI’s Central Information Secretary on the instruction of the party’s founder.

However, Rauf Hasan has been removed from the post of the information secretary and appointed him as the head of the PTI policy think tank. A notification has been issued in this connection.

It is pertinent to mention here, earlier in the day, the jailed founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rejected claims made by his party’s chief spokesperson about being ready to engage in talks with the establishment.

PTI spokesperson Raoof Hasan had stated that dialogue between the party and the establishment was unavoidable, and that PTI was open to such discussions.

However, during a conversation with journalists at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail on Thursday, Imran Khan dismissed the need for talks with the establishment.

The PTI founder clarified that Hasan had misunderstood the situation. He reiterated that, following the power show in Islamabad, he had clearly communicated that his party would not enter into negotiations with anyone.

Before Khan’s comments, Raoof Hasan had told a private TV channel that PTI had been prepared for talks with the establishment in the past and remained open to the idea.

Hasan emphasized that it has always been PTI’s policy to engage with the establishment, arguing that such dialogue was inevitable for the country’s stability and should not be delayed.
