Hezbollah fires over 100 rockets at Israel

The Israeli military said more than 100 rockets were fired from Lebanon early Sunday, with fire services working to put out blazes sparked by falling munitions in Israel’s north, AFP reported.

The Lebanese group Hezbollah, which has been involved in ongoing exchanges of fire with Israeli forces since the Gaza conflict began, has ramped up its attacks in recent days.

The Israeli military stated that “approximately 20 projectiles were identified crossing from Lebanon” shortly before 5:00 am (0200 GMT), followed by a barrage of “approximately 85 projectiles” launched from Lebanon after 6:00 am (0300 GMT), the report added.

Israel’s emergency medical service, Magen David Adom, reported that four individuals were injured by shrapnel during the overnight bombardment.

Alongside the attacks from Lebanon, the military noted that there were also threats from the east, as several aerial targets approached Israel from the direction of Iraq. These targets were intercepted without causing any injuries.

In response, Israel launched new strikes targeting Hezbollah positions in Lebanon on Sunday, retaliating against the Iran-backed group’s heavy rocket fire towards northern Israel.
