With the expected change in weather next month in October, the Punjab government is likely to adjust school timings across the province.
Current School Timings in Punjab
At present, schools running a single shift open at 8:00 a.m. and close at 1:30 p.m. from Monday to Thursday, with classes ending at 12:00 p.m. on Fridays.
In double-shift and afternoon-shift schools, the morning session runs from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., while the afternoon session is held from 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. On Fridays, the evening shift operates from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Expected School Timings From October 2024
The Punjab government will make the final decision regarding changes to school timings.
However, based on last year’s schedule, it’s likely that boys’ schools will operate from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., while girls’ schools will run from 8:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. On Fridays, boys’ classes may start at 8:30 a.m. and finish by 12:15 p.m., with girls’ classes starting at 8:15 a.m. and ending at 12:00 p.m.
Double-shift schools are expected to begin at 7:45 a.m. and continue until 12:15 p.m., with afternoon sessions likely starting at 12:30 p.m. and ending at 5:00 p.m.
On Fridays, afternoon classes might start at 1:30 p.m. following the Jumma break. The updated timings will be shared once officially announced by the provincial government.
