KARACHI: A security guard was shot dead while resisting robbery bid near Johar Mor, Gulistan-e-Jauhar here on Friday.
According to details, three robbers tried to loot a private construction company’s employee, who was carrying a heavy amount of money from North Karachi, and shot at and injured the company’s guard.
The police sources said that the security guard succumbed to his injuries while being treated at a hospital, adding that two accused have been arrested while their third accomplice fled away with the money bag as it is missing. They said that the investigation has been initiated.
Later on, it was reported that one bandit was killed after an alleged exchange of fire between the police and dacoits.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr Farrukh Raza said that an employee and a guard of imminent builder of the city were taking a heavy amount of money from North Karachi when they reached Millenium Shopping Mall in remit of Shahrah-e-Faisal police station, three robbers riding a motorcycle fired at the vehicle and tried to loot them, injuring the security guard.
The SSP said that the dacoits took away the bag of money, adding that as soon the police party patrolling in the area reached the scene at once and chased the accused. The police arrested the two culprits, however their third companion succeeded to flee along the money bag.

Dr Raza said that the dacoits robbed 1.5 million rupees, which was recovered from their possession by the police.
