KARACHI: The Karachi administration has declared that all private and public educational institutions, including schools, will be closed on Friday due to ongoing rainfall.
Commissioner Karachi, Syed Hassan Naqvi issued a notification stating that the decision was made following the advisories from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
Earlier on Wednesday, Deputy commissioners of Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Jamshoro, Sajawal, Sanghar, Tando Allahyar and Matiari announced holiday for all private and public educational institutions in their respective districts on Thursday in view of expected heavy rainfall.
Sindh Education Department spokesperson has said that the district administrations have decided on their own to deal with any expected emergency situation.
The school education and literacy department of the Sindh government has announced that there will be local holiday in the province owing to heavy rainfall across the province.
In a notification issued on Wednesday, the Sindh government stated that any district experiencing heavy rainfall may announce a local holiday during the ongoing monsoon season.
