Cement bag prices have recently seen a significant rise following the imposition of various taxes by the current government, including Federal excise duty and sales tax.
In Punjab, cement prices are anticipated to increase by Rs75 per bag due to a court-issued stay order requiring local manufacturers to provide bank guarantees.
This expected price hike is a result of the new government-imposed royalty rate of 6 percent on the ex-factory price of cement.
In Pakistan, the leading industry players include Lucky Cement Ltd, the largest manufacturer, followed by DG Khan Cement Co. Ltd, Attock Cement, Kohinoor Cement, Power Cement, and Dewan Cement. Other notable names in the industry are Maple Leaf Cement and Bestway Cement.
